We're having another good response to our St. George's Day plea and many of you are sending letters, emails & pictures depicting how you plan to celebrate the day. From everyone at WATE.com, a very big thank you to all who participate.
In no particular order, here they are...
there s a group of us all dressed up and going to weatherspoons
in mk for a good old english breakfast and a few drinks a
celebration of our beloved England and st georgehappy st georges
day the celebrations are about to start - terry
Well I woke up at about 9am and started getting ready for
the big day! Yes, it was St Georges Day and a day that means
a lot to me.So much so, my fiancé and I decided to
marry on this wonderful Day! I got ready in my wedding clobber
which consisted of a dark suit with a white shirt and red
cravat. English flag cufflinks completing the outfit! My Best
man and his wife took me to the church in a car covered in
Red and White. While there, at the Church, I greeted the guests
but had to pop into the church to talk to the vicar Marilyn.
She pointed out the scarf (I don’t know the technical
name but the white scarf with a cross at the end that they
wear). She had chosen a pure white one with a red cross at
the end! Time went by and everyone came into the church, most
wearing a token “English” themed item of clothing!
Then the Bride turned up with the bridesmaids…. In an
English BLACK TAXI! The cab was covered in England flags!
The wife to be and her bridesmaids dressed to go with the
day… White for the bride, Red for the bridesmaids. The
ceremony was absolutely 1st class! Our wonderful vicar didn’t
drag on about religion… She talked about St George!!
And was great. We had to choose hymns but one of which we
were allowed wasn’t a hymn. It was “Land of Hope
and Glory”!!! Then off to the meal which consisted of
Pie and Mash with either Likka (I’m a London boy!) or
Gravy.
Each table had a name of course……….. They
were…
Tower of London (Top Table), Windsor, Upnor, Rochester, Leeds,
and 5 other castles (Sorry, I forgot what castles we called
them after.
The whole place was covered in English.. well, EVERYTHING!
Flags, bunting, banners and so forth. The whole day was Full
of English Pride and Now it is also our wedding Anniversary!!
St Georges day also marked these great moments for me…
While having a scan, we found out we were going to have a
son (St Georges Day 2003) My Daughter was Christened (St Georges
Day 2006)
St Georges day! I Love it!
If you guys are interested, I will put some pictures of the
wedding on the net and send you a link?
Kind regards and all the Best
Brian

St. George's Society of Palm Beach had a nice social gathering
last Friday the 25th to celebrate St. George's Day. The weather
was perfect as we were outside at the Sailfish Club of Palm
Beach. Members were given St. George's flag lapel pins. A
great time was had by all.
