The word “Anglo-Saxon,” or just “Anglo,” is still thrown around all the time to describe the English or anything connected to the English . It comes from the two main tribes that came together to form the English nation.

The largest tribe were the Angles - that’s where Anglo comes from. The Saxons got their name from the blade they were never far from, the seax. It could be a small everyday knife or something closer to a sword, depending on the job. Saxon basically means “sons of the sword.”
